INTRODUCTION:
════════════
GT PowerComm Directory Merger is a small utility that I wrote to manage
GT Power's phone directories. Besides converting from Qmodem's dialing
format and Telix's dialing format to GT's it'll also merge your GT phone
directories. The merging feature is nice for those converting monthly
BBS directories and don't want to shuffle between dozens of them. This
is a complete rewrite of the old interface. Many of the interfaces are
provided by TechnoJock's Object Toolkit.
PURPOSE:
═══════
To convert Qmodem and Telix dialing format to GT's as well as merge GT
PowerComm's telephone directories. Tested with GT v16.00 but should work
with all previous and future version as well.
PROGRAM OPERATION:
═════════════════
At the dos prompt type: GTDM
This'll bring up the menu for you to select. Context sensitive help is
available by pressing the 'F1' key if it is not already on the screen. If
you need a command line version, then you'll have to download an older
version. I'm working toward writing programs that don't need
documentations and I hope this little program is somewhere there.
The shelled to DOS key is exactly the same as GT's if you need to drop to
DOS for something quick.
With the help of TuroPower Software's ExecSwap unit the program swaps
most part of itself to either EMS or disk. I found myself with not much
use for the EMS on my system and little RAM when shelling out so I've
included this into GTDM.
CAUTION:
═══════
PLEASE BACKUP YOUR PHONE DIRECTORIES BEFORE RUNNING THIS PROGRAM!
GTDM has been tested on all of my genuine Taiwanese 286/20 clone and has
worked fine. I cannot however guarantee that it will work on your
system.
Don't merge too many directories into one as you may not have enough
memory to sort the directory when you're in GT. I got a bit carried
away and merged all of my directories containing a total of about 2000
entries and had this problem. Try to keep the number of entries per
directory to under 1000, then you won't run into such problem. GT Power
suppose to have 999 number limit per directory as I recalled, but seems
this is not the case as I found out.
REGISTRATION & SUPPORT:
═══════════════════════
This program is released as DonationWare. If you like the program a
donation is appreciated. All donations will be used towards developments
of future program. I'm currently in need of about $100.00 to register
this TechnoJock Object Toolkit. If you use GTDM please send me a small
donation, $1.00 each from 100 people, will help me achieve this goal.
If you need support for GTDM, I may be reached at my support BBS or my
home address listed on the first page of this documentation.
